HOW TO APPLY FOR A NON-IMMIGRANT VISA

STEP ONE:  SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT

For general information on visa procedures or requirements or to schedule an appointment to apply for a non-immigrant visa, please call the Visa Information Service (VIS) at one of the following numbers.

From Macedonia:  (02) 309 9090
From Kosovo:  (038) 247 973
From the United States:  1-800-672-8730

To access the VIS, callers from Macedonia and Kosovo must first purchase a personal identification number (PIN) for $12 (payable in local currency) from either Komercijalna Banka in Macedonia or Raiffeisen Bank in Kosovo.  PINs are activated for use the day after they are purchased and cannot be used the day of purchase.  Callers from the United States may charge the $15 access fee to a credit card when calling the number above.

STEP TWO:  GATHER REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Completed and signed DS-156 application form.  Effective November 1, 2006, all applicants must submit the 3-page bar-coded application form, available at: http://evisaforms.state.gov.
  • Completed DS-157 supplemental form.  (Applicants for F, J, or M visas must also submit a completed DS-158 form.)  Both forms are available at the Embassy website: http://skopje.usembassy.gov.
  • One full-face photo on a white background taken within the past six months and measuring 2 inches by 2 inches (5cm by 5cm).
  • Documents to support your reason for travel and establishing your professional, financial and familial ties to your home country, such as verification of student status or employment, evidence of your financial resources, etc.

STEP THREE:  PAY THE APPLICATION FEE

Non-immigrant visa applicants must pay a $131 visa application fee (payable in local currency) before submitting an application.  The fee may be paid either at Komercijalna Banka in Macedonia or at Raiffeisen Bank in Kosovo.  Residents of Macedonia also may pay the fee at Stopanska Banka, if there is no convenient branch of Komercijalna Banka.  When applicants come to the Embassy for their interview, they must provide the original receipt (two copies for Komercijalna Banka, or one copy for Raiffeisen Bank or Stopanska Banka) showing payment.

For more information related to visa issuance fee and/or reciprocity fee table visit:

STEP FOUR:  COME TO THE EMBASSY FOR YOUR VISA APPLICATION INTERVIEW

  • Bring both copies of the original receipt showing that you have paid the application fee.
  • Bring the documents outlined above in Step Two.
  • Bring your passport — it must be valid for at least six months beyond your planned entry date into the United States.
