U.S. Assistant Secretary of State visits Macedonia, May 12, 2010

Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Dr. Philip H. Gordon, will visit Macedonia on May 13, 2010. This is his first visit to Macedonia since he succeeded Daniel Fried in May 2009. During his visit A/S Gordon, accompanied by Ambassador Reeker, will meet with President Gjorge Ivanov, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, DUI leader and MP Ali Ahmeti, and SDSM leader Branko Crvenkovski. At the meetings A/S Gordon will discuss recent domestic and international political developments, including U.S. – Macedonian relations, regional stability, and Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic integration process.

After the meeting with Prime Minister Gruevski on Thursday, there will be a joint press conference at the Government building (media will be invited to this event by the Government). There will also be a photo opportunity before the meetings with DUI leader Ahmeti at 4 pm on May 13 at the Residence of the United States Ambassador (Pitu Guli bb).
