United States House of Representatives Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly visits Macedonia

February 21, 2008.

A six-member group from the United States House of Representatives Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, led by Chairman John Tanner, will visit Macedonia on February 22, as part of a regional tour focusing on the progress of the countries of the Adriatic Charter on reforms related to membership in NATO.  Other members of the Delegation are Representative Ben Chandler, Representative Jeff Miller, Representative Dennis Moore, Representative Mike Ross and Representative Carolyn McCarthy

In Skopje, the delegation will meet with President Branko Crvenkovski, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, Chief of Army General Staff General Miroslav Stojanovski, and Deputy Minister of Defense Ilijaz Halimi.  The delegation will also meet and greet Macedonian soldiers who have participated in peacekeeping missions in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq. 

At the end of the visit, Chairman Tanner will make a brief statement at the Army Hall at 12:30 pm on Friday, February 22.
