The USAID Creative Teaching and Learning Program introduces modern technology at the State University in Tetovo
February 13, 2008
Thanks to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Faculty of Humanities and Arts and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the State University in Tetovo now have new fully equipped media labs and model classrooms that will serve the students in preparing their projects and course assignments.
The media labs are equipped with computers, scanner, printer, photo-copier, CDs, TV set, books and periodicals. The model classrooms now have new furniture, LCD projector, reference materials, as well as teaching aids. The improvements create a pleasant environment for teachers and students and increase their motivation and commitment to the pre-service teacher training reform.
The $93,000 investment is part of the USAID funded Creative Teaching and Learning (CTL) Program implemented by the Foundation Open Society Institute Macedonia (FOSIM). “This project is important because it helps those who will have the most effect on Macedonian youth – future teachers. I strongly believe that the children of Macedonia will benefit from our joint efforts and enjoy the brighter future they deserve,” said U.S. Ambassador Milovanovic.
Since December 2005, the CLT project has provided technical assistance and equipment to eight public pre-service Teacher Training Institutions in Skopje, Stip, Bitola and Tetovo. The goal of the project is to improve the quality of instruction and ensure that future teachers are equipped with student-centered teaching methodologies and modern information technology.
