Banks’ Role in Preventing Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Seminars

US Ambassador to Macedonia Phillip T. Reeker together with the Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia Petar Goshev opened the first of the two seminars on “Banks’ Role in Preventing Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing” that took place in the period October 14-22, 2008, in Struga, Macedonia. US Embassy Skopje invited experts from the US Department of the Treasury, as well as experts from the Republic of Macedonia, that shared expertise with the participants, representatives of all banks in Macedonia, the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia, and from the Macedonian FIU, on how to best develop a good compliance program within their institutions in order to be able to detect unusual and suspicious transactions, and deal with money launderers and financiers of terrorism. United States Unveils Newly Designed $10 Bill
The U. S. unveiled a new, more secure design for the $10 bill expected to enter circulation in early 2006. The $10 note redesign is part of an ongoing U.S. effort to stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated counterfeiters, according to a news release issued jointly by the U.S. Treasury's Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the Federal Reserve Board and the U.S. Secret Service, September 28, 2005.
