Fisnik Oseku

Fisnik Oseku is an active 17-year-old who lives in Skopje and attends Zef Lush Marku High School.  He plans to graduate in 2007 and then continue his studies at a university.  He is a member of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights and the Red Cross of Macedonia.  Between film school and OSCE leadership training, Fisnik somehow manages to find the time to play basketball and soccer, watch movies and read books.  This summer will be his first visit to the U.S.  He has been studying English for over eight years, and also speaks Albanian and Macedonian, as well as some Turkish and German.  When asked what he would share with program participants about Macedonia, Fisnik replied,  "The main challenge is to stabilize the economic situation.  The whole country is focused on the EU candidacy, but there is high poverty and unemployment."  He writes for the school newspaper, which he mentioned has several segments including one addressing problems facing youth.
