Fulbright Program

The Embassy of the United States of America in Skopje is pleased to announce the annual competition for the Fulbright Scholarship Program for study in the United States for the academic year 2007-08.

Deadline: August 1, 2006

This program enable citizens of Macedonia to study, conduct research, and pursue their academic and professional interests at leading universities and other educational institutions in the U.S. The awards are granted through an open competition, and selected candidates will be required to appear for an interview by a committee.

The Fulbright program offers two categories of grants:

Fulbright Scholar Program - supports applicants with an advanced academic degree (usually doctoral-level) who seek to conduct full-time advanced research or to lecture in their fields of interest. Time of stay in the U.S. is usually between four and eight months.

Fulbright Student Program – supports applicants with a university degree who seek to pursue academic courses or to carry out research projects at U.S. institutions of higher education. One academic year of study at the post-graduate level is supported by Fulbright Student Program grants.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Macedonian citizenship
  • Proficiency in English (TOEFL is required for student applicants)
  • GRE and/or GMAT (Please contact Office of Public Affairs for more detailed information regarding these tests).

DISQUALIFICATION FACTORS

  • Individuals with extensive educational experience abroad
  • Applicants already studying in the U.S.

August 1, 2006 is the deadline for submitting the applications to:

Supplementary forms:  You complete the Academic Records Information and the Signature forms. You complete the Transcript Release Form for post-secondary U.S. transcripts only, if applicable.

The Letter of Reference and the Report on Proficiency in English Form are completed by other individuals.  You can print the PDF version of these supplementary forms and forward them to the appropriate individuals for completion, or you can direct these individuals to this web site.
