When a Macedonian holiday falls on a weekend day, the Government of Macedonia usually issues a proclamation a few days before the holiday informing the public that a different day will be the “observed” holiday.



 

The following are Government-designated religious and ethnic community holidays that are only for those of specific faiths or ethnic communities.



The Embassy is open for regular business for all other employees.

1. Orthodox Religious Holidays:

January 6  - Badnik -Christmas Eve (for members of the Orthodox faith);
January 19 - Bogojavlenie (Vodici) Epiphany (for members of the Orthodox faith);
April 17 - Good Friday (Friday before Orthodox Easter -  for members of the Orthodox faith);
June 5- Friday before Duhovden (for members of the Orthodox faith);
June 8 - Duhovden –All Saints Holiday (for members of the Orthodox faith);
August 28 - Uspenie na Presveta Bogorodica (Golema Bogorodica) Dormition of the Virgin (for members of the Orthodox faith);

2. Catholic Religious Holidays:

April 12/13 – Easter Monday (for members of the Catholic faith);
November 1- All Saints Holiday (for members of the Catholic faith);

3. Muslim Religious Holiday:

November 27 – Kurban Bajram, first day of Kurban Bajram

4. Jewish Religious Holiday:

- September 27 – Yom Kippur (for members of the Jewish faith);

5.  Ethnic Communities Holidays:

- January 27 - Saint Sava (for members of the Serbian community);
- April 8 - International Day of the Roma (for members of the Roma community);
- May 23 - National Day of the Vlachs (for members of the Vlach community);
- September 28 - International Day of the Bosnian (for members of the Bosnian community);
- November 22 - Day of the Albanian Alphabet (for members of the Albanian community);
- December 21 - Day of the Turkish Language (for members of the Turkish community);
