Ambassador Gillian Milovanovic farewell interview with Alsat TV

August 26, 2008

Ambassador Milovanovic: Well, to be honest, I think one of the things that has struck me over the entire three years of being here is that Macedonia and its people, and its leaders, have an enormous capacity to do the right thing but you can not always be sure that they are going to want to take the direction that is ultimately going to be the right thing for the country or for themselves...full text.

Ambassador Gillian A. Milovanovic Interview with Tea Moderna [Weekly Magazine]

August 20, 2008

Ambassador Milovanovic: The time has gone very quickly for me and for my whole family. Macedonia is a fascinating country, where something is always happening. Sometimes it is politics of course, or high level visitors, but also concerts, art exhibits, academic achievement ceremonies, and commemorations and celebrations throughout the country. The many warm and hospitable people we have met, with whom we have shared many happy and interesting times, have made the time pass very pleasantly but also incredibly quickly. We are sorry to see this period in our lives come to an end but we will always remain connected to Macedonia…full text.

Charge D ‘Affairs Thomas Navratil interview with A1 TV

August 15, 2008

Thomas Navratil:  Absolutely.  The United States would like to see NATO enlarged to include the Republic of Macedonia.  We supported that position at the NATO Summit in Bucharest, we supported it before and we continue to believe that is the right course for our Alliance.  In that context, we very much support the United Nations talks that Ambassador Nimetz is leading between Greece and Macedonia over the name dispute. I would call attention to the comments that Secretary Rice made earlier this week in which she pointed out that the very process of engaging with NATO and participating in the membership action plans of NATO has had a very positive effects in other parts of Europe in resolving disputes,...more | video file -[size 18 MB].
