U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James B. Steinberg Visits Macedonia

Deputy Secretary of State James B. Steinberg will visit Macedonia on May 16, 2009. This is his first visit to Macedonia since he was appointed in January 2009.   During his visit Deputy Secretary Steinberg, accompanied by Ambassador Reeker, will meet with President Gjorge Ivanov, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski as well as with representatives of political parties.  Together they will discuss recent domestic and international political developments, including U.S. – Macedonian relations, regional stability, and Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic integration process. 

Deputy Secretary Steinberg will make a brief statement and answer media questions at 17:00 following the meeting with PM Nikola Gruevski in the government building.
